Learning, Growing & Thriving Together
🐑 Learning Beyond the Classroom
At Brede Primary, learning doesn’t stop at the school gates. Through our Farming for Schools programme, children get hands-on experience in the great outdoors — connecting with nature, caring for animals, and understanding where food really comes from.
We’re proud of our own flower and vegetable patches on-site, but our learning goes even further thanks to a wonderful partnership with local farms through the Rother Food Partnership, and Sanctuary Farm — a working farm just a short journey from school.
🌾 What Our Children Experience
· 🐄 Animal Care: Learn to care for farm animals and understand their needs.
· 🌻 Gardening & Growing: Get hands-on in our school garden—planting, weeding, harvesting!
· 🌦️ Seasons & Sustainability: Experience how food grows, understand climate impacts, and explore environmental responsibility.
· 🌦️ Discover how weather and climate affect life
· 💚 Connect with nature to support mental health and wellbeing
Why Farming? 🌾
Nature is the ultimate teacher. From planting seeds to caring for animals, each moment on the farm offers rich, hands-on opportunities to:
✅ Learn where our food comes from and how to grow it
✅ Develop team work, responsibility, and resilience
✅ Solve real-life problems and manage risk
✅ Observe lifecycles and seasonal change
At Brede Primary, farming isn’t just an activity — it’s an adventure! Whether it’s digging up potatoes, feeding curious goats and lambs, or simply feeling the sunshine on their faces, children laugh, learn, and grow with every visit. These joyful, muddy, memorable moments build confidence, compassion, and curiosity — and stay with them long after the boots come off.
Because at Brede, we believe learning should be full of life — and farming brings it to life beautifully. 🌱💚
