GREEN EXPLORERS Fruitful Farming Programme |
At Brede Primary, learning doesn’t stop at the school gates. Through our Green Explorers: Fruitful Farming Programme, children enjoy hands-on experiences in the great outdoors, connecting with nature, caring for animals, and discovering where food really comes from.
We are developing our own growing spaces on site and are always excited to see what we can produce. Last year, our young farmers successfully grew some delicious carrots and came close to harvesting our very own wheat crop. This year, we’re looking forward to building on that success and learning even more about food production from seed to harvest.
Our learning extends far beyond the classroom thanks to our wonderful partnership with local farms through the Rother Food Partnership. Children have the opportunity to visit Le Rette Farm, a working farm just a short journey from school, and Burnt House Farm, only a short walk away. Both farms generously welcome our groups and provide invaluable real-world learning experiences.

Why Farming?
| Farming provides children with opportunities to learn in ways that simply cannot be replicated in the classroom. Through meaningful, real-world experiences, pupils develop a deeper connection to their environment and gain a greater appreciation for the people, processes, and natural systems that support everyday life. At Brede Primary, our Fruitful Farming Programme encourages children to slow down, observe, explore, and ask questions. Whether they’re working alongside farmers, monitoring the progress of a crop, or spending time outdoors with friends, children experience the satisfaction that comes from being part of something bigger than themselves. |
