At Brede Primary School the RE curriculum is rich and varied, enabling learners to acquire a thorough knowledge and understanding of world religions, faiths and beliefs, as well as the Christian faith. The children study inks between the beliefs, practices and value systems of the range of faiths and world views studied.
We follow the East Sussex Agreed Syllabus for RE. Alongside this, we use the Understanding Christianity resource, which focuses on Christian heritage and faith.
The Principal Aim
The principal aim of religious education is to explore what people believe and what difference this makes to how they live, so that pupils can gain the knowledge, understanding and skills needed to handle questions raised by religion and belief, reflecting on their own ideas and ways of living.
The curriculum for RE aims to ensure that all pupils:
1. Make sense of a range of religious and non-religious beliefs
2. Understand the impact and significance of religious and non-religious beliefs
3. Make connections between religious and non-religious beliefs, concepts, practices and ideas studied
